VAP at Manhattanville College NY

Manhattanville College is looking for a full-time visiting (non-tenure-track) faculty member to fill a one-year position in our Department of Physics.
Relevant experience teaching undergraduate learners, including adults, a familiarity with the use of technology in teaching, and strong written and oral communication skills are required. A willingness to supervise a small number of adjunct faculty, advise students in the major, and to instruct both introductory and advanced courses in Physics is imperative.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph. D. from an accredited institution;
  • Demonstrated mastery of relevant subject areas;
  • A keen interest in helping people through teaching; competence in providing constructive feedback;
  • Excellent written and communication skills; excellent organizational skills.

  1. Effectively interrelate subject area with other relevant disciplines and to real-life experience; 
  2. Develop and execute instructional plans for maximum learning; 
  3. Maintain accurate records of instructional effectiveness; 
  4. Develop productive relationships with students and colleagues; 
  5. Constructively evaluate students' assignments and expeditiously provide feedback; 
  6. Maintain accurate records of student progress; 
  7. Respond in a timely manner to requests for information and/or action; 
  8. Collaborate in developing, maintaining, improving and innovating courses and their content.
