Lab Instructor, Carroll College, MT

Carroll College, an independent, Catholic, diocesan liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 1400 undergraduate students in Helena, MT, seeks a physics laboratory instructor to maintain the laboratory and teach the laboratory portions of introductory physics courses. This position is full time for 9.5 months per year (from Aug. 15–May 31). Primary activities include: setting up and taking down instructional laboratory equipment, maintaining storeroom organization, teaching four (4) introductory lab sections (with a total enrollment of approximately 100 students) per semester, and grading students’ laboratory reports. Candidates will also collaborate with faculty members in development and coordination of the introductory lab curriculum, and in purchase and repair of instructional laboratory equipment. Qualified candidates may also be invited to teach sections of introductory physics or other courses in Carroll’s physics/engineering curricula, and/or participate in the development of new advanced laboratory exercises.

Starting date is 15 August 2016, for the 2016-17 academic year.

Candidates must have a Masters or higher degree in Physics, Physics Education, or related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates who have prior training and experience with the setup and coordination of introductory physics laboratory equipment, and previous experience in teaching introductory physics labs.
