The St. Olaf College Physics Department invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professorposition for academic year 2016-2017. The position is a full-time term appointment starting Aug. 15, 2016.  This position will teach a combination of lecture and laboratory courses in physics with a load of six course-equivalents for the year. The courses to be taught are likely to include introductory physics (mechanics; electricity and magnetism), sophomore-level quantum physics, and advanced laboratory.

A Ph. D. in physics (or in a closely related field with a strong physics foundation) and demonstrated potential for excellent teaching in a residential liberal arts college setting. We seek motivated teachers who will thrive in an environment where close collaboration with students is the norm. Strong candidates nearing completion of the Ph. D. may also be considered for appointment at the rank of visiting instructor.
