Job Title:Physics Instructor
Salary:Depends on Qualifications

Location:Winona, Minnesota
 
• Teach and develop undergraduate physics courses for both physics majors and non-majors.

• Assess student learning outcomes for the physics department and the general education program.

• Maintain office hours and comply with other requirements of the IFO Master Contract.

• Provide service to the university and community in those areas commensurate with expertise.

• Assist in recruiting students to the university and to the physics department.

• Continue professional development.

• Willingness to teach evening courses, workshops, and/or online courses as needed by the physics department
 Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in Physics or related field by date of appointment
 Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctorate Degree in Physics.

• Evidence of effective oral and written English communication skills.

• Evidence of Teaching Effectiveness including but not limited to: a. Experience implementing a variety of best practices in science teaching; b. Demonstrated experience for assessing the efficacy of curriculum on student learning and making curricular choices based on that assessment; c. Evidence of the ability to teach a broad range of undergraduate physics courses; d. Demonstrated ability to teach effectively

• Evidence of Scholarly Activity including but not limited to: a. Research interests accessible to undergraduate physics majors; b. Postdoctoral and/or industrial experience.

• Evidence of Continued Preparation including but not limited to: a. Involvement in professional organizations, regionally and/or nationally.

• Evidence of Contribution to Student Growth including but not limited to: a. Experience leading student research; b. Experience facilitating student creativity (eg, interacting with the physics club; taking students on trips, etc...)

• Evidence of Service including but not limited to: a. Willingness to develop interdisciplinary courses, programs, or opportunities that connect the Physics Department more broadly within the college and/or university; b. Outreach activities/interests that connect the university to the larger community.
