We seek an energetic, enthusiastic, and broadly trained physicist or mathematician who loves teaching and shares our dedication to excellence. Major responsibilities include teaching physics and mathematics courses across our entire curriculum, department and college service activities, and advising undergraduate students. Final course assignments will depend upon department needs as well as the preferences of the successful candidate. We are primarily an institution focused on teaching excellence, and the teaching load is comprised of 12 credit-hours each semester. While Adams State College does not currently offer a bachelor's degree in physics, we do offer a B.S. in Mathematics with a physics emphasis as well as a B.S. in Chemical Physics. Additionally, we have a small observatory with several telescopes and a 24-foot diameter planetarium on campus to be renovated with a modern projection system during the 2011-12 academic-year.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications at the time of appointment must include one of the following:

· Ph.D. in astronomy with a strong background in physics and mathematics
· Ph.D. in mathematics with a master's degree in physics
· Ph.D. in a closely related field with a strong background in mathematics and physics

Preference will be given to those who:
