Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in the Academic Development Programme (Physics)

ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

CENTRE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

We invite applications for this permanent position, for appointment by 01 February 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position is on the staff of the Academic Development Programme (ADP). Please note that as the successful candidate you will be seconded to the Physics Department in the Faculty of Science.

The primary responsibilities, in the context of ADP work in the Faculty of Science, will be to:
Design and teach foundational and other courses in Physics.
Participate in curriculum and student development in Physics.
Undertake research in Physics education directed at tertiary level.

Requirements:-
At least a Master’s degree in Physics or at least an Honours degree in Physics and a Master’s degree in Physics Education.
Experience relevant to educational research and development.
Relevant teaching experience. For appointment at the senior lecturer rank, Physics teaching experience at university level is essential.

A PhD or a PhD in progress would be an advantage.

The rank at which the position is offered will be determined by the qualifications and/or experience of the candidate.

The annual remuneration packages for 2010, including benefits, at the respective ranks are as follows:

Lecturer: R372 918
Senior Lecturer: R446 898
