VAP at Austin Peay State TN

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Austin Peay State University is seeking to fill a temporary, 1 year position for either a visiting Assistant Professor, or a visiting Instructor (rank commensurate with education and experience) starting in August 2014.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach introductory courses including algebra/trigonometry based physics, conceptual physics, and possibly introductory astronomy courses for non-majors and/or introductory chemistry courses. The typical load is 2 lecture classes and 2 or 3 laboratory sections.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The successful applicant will be encouraged to carry out scholarly research and, if possible, to involve undergraduates in that research.

Required qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • A background search will be required of the successful candidate.
