Assistant Professor of Physics - Saint Martin's University - TT

Saint Martin’s University, an independent university located in western Washington, invites applications for a full-time, entry-level, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Physics in the Department of Natural Sciences, beginning August 2017. The area of specialization is open; however, the successful applicant is expected to teach introductory courses for science, engineering, and general education students, laboratory sections as well as upper-division courses to support the new physics minor. Physics faculty are also expected to rotate their commitment by teaching a First Year Seminar course each year. Interest in teaching computational physics and/or astronomy topics is a plus. The successful candidate will be both an active scholar and an excellent classroom instructor, able to teach a broad range of courses under a 12-credit teaching load per semester. Class enrollments range between 20 and 25 students, with upper-level classes being smaller.

Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research and a PhD are required, as is a willingness to support the Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts tradition of Saint Martin’s University.

Candidates must have valid documentation permitting them to work in the US from the date on which the appointment at Saint Martin’s takes effect. The positions are subject to budgetary approval.
