Position/Job Summary The Ithaca College Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a full-time, three-year renewable teaching position as Assistant Professor beginning August 16, 2017. We seek a conscientious teacher, active in the physics/astronomy community, who will thrive in a four-year comprehensive institution where close contact and collaboration with students are the norm.
Position/Job Qualifications Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a closely related discipline preferred. Outstanding candidates who are ABD will be considered. Physics or astronomy teaching experience at the undergraduate level is expected.

Department description The Department is dedicated to teaching and learning in a collaborative environment that is informed by recent Physics Education Research. For example, we teach Introduction to Physics I and II in a Studio Physics/SCALE-UP style classroom and use student-centered, active-learning techniques. Faculty members are also expected to offer office hours, grade assignments, and participate in activities of the Department and the College.
