 Position Summary:
The Physics Department of the State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh invites applications for the position of lecturer in Physics/Engineering to begin in the Fall of 2017.
The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching and service in an institution dedicated primarily to undergraduate education. He or she will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and gender issues, as SUNY Plattsburgh is committed to ensuring that its graduates are educated to succeed in an increasingly complex, multicultural, and interdependent world.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to be active in teaching, and department and campus-wide service.
The teaching load is 12 credits per semester.
Anticipated courses to be taught include: Statics, Strength of Materials, Solid State Physics, and sharing the teaching of Introductory Physics lectures (both major and non-major levels) and laboratory. Candidates may be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format.
Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Physics, Engineering or related field (as deemed appropriate).
Candidates must provide evidence of effective teaching in both lecture and laboratory at the undergraduate level.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated an ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph. D. in Physics, Engineering, or related field (as deemed appropriate). Preference given to candidates with lecture experience in Physics.
