Essential Functions: - Assist in developing research questions, and designing research methods and data collection procedures. - Assist in program evaluation activities throughout the State of Michigan, including large survey mailing, face-to-face and telephone interviews, focus groups, and so forth. - Assist in the design of evaluation procedures/protocols and develop data collection instruments, profiles, and coduct statistical analyses and interpret findings. - Assist with proposal grant-writing activities, including conducting literature reviews. - Assist in the production reports or other deliverable documents to fulfill contracts, and prepare and deliver presentations to policy-making bodies and professional organizations. - Work with other researchers, graduate, and undergraduate assistants involved in the evaluation projects. - Assist with supervision of graduate and undergraduate assistants.

Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree required in any area of social science research (including political science, public administration, anthropology, demography, education, geography, psychology, public health, social work, sociology, survey methodology, statistics, and urban studies). - Knowledge, coursework, and experience in designing, implementing, and managing program evaluation/research projects, including large scale mailings, telephone and face-to-face interviews, and focus groups. - A strong working knowledge of social science research methods and primary data collections procedures (CATI, web-based surveys, mail surveys, in-person interviews, focus groups, etc.) and practicalities of implementation highly preferred. - Skilled in statistical analyses. Ability to effectively utilize software necessary to convert and process data (e.g. SAS, SPSS, Excel, Access, Dbase). - Strong problem resolution, organizational, analytical, and communication (oral and written) skills; ability to collaborate effectively. - Supervision skills required.
