Three positions at the College of the Bahamas

The College of The Bahamas is the national institution of tertiary general education of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas. The
institution grants certificates, diplomas, associate degrees and a growing number of Bachelor's degrees to nearly 4,000 students located around the Bahamian archipelago. It has extensive links with tertiary institutions in the Caribbean and North America and its credits are accepted by more than 200 colleges and universities in those regions and in Great Britain. It is poised to embark aggressively upon a major expansion of its programme offerings, its research activities and its physical facilities, and to incorporate distance teaching methodologies into its repertoire of strategies for delivering instruction, all with a view to seeking a charter as a university.

Assistant Professor, Education Research

Candidate should have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education Research with a minimum of 3 years of teaching at the tertiary level. Candidates will be expected to assist with teaching General Education and Research courses at the Undergraduate and Graduate level, as well as assist with supervision of Masters Research Thesis and curriculum development of education courses/programmes.


Assistant Professor, Science Education

Candidate should have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Science Education with a minimum of 3 years of teaching at the tertiary level. Candidates will be expected to teach elementary and secondary science methodology to prospective teachers, assist with teaching General Science and General Education courses, supervision of student-teachers and curriculum development of science education courses/programmes.


Assistant Professor, Physics

The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment and the ability to teach undergraduate Physics. Experience with Astronomy courses for non‐science majors would be an asset. A Ph.D. in Physics is required. Candidates with research specialties in the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: atmospheric and environmental physics, condensed matter physics, computational physics, astrophysics, physics education and alternative sources of energy. Other duties and responsibilities include: Student advisement; Curricular development / review & evaluation; providing service to the College/University of The Bahamas and the wider Bahamian community; and a commitment to research.

In ALL cases, preference will be given to candidates with strong academic backgrounds, teaching and research experience.
