OVERVIEW:
The Natural Sciences Department, in the Division of Liberal Arts and Sciences, is seeking a faculty member to teach physics and introductory courses in the physical sciences. This is an entry level, full-time, 9-month tenure track faculty position to begin in August 2015. The annual teaching load is 30 semester hours. Santa Fe College is a teaching-oriented, student-centered institution emphasizing lower-division courses for university transfer as well as the latest workplace skills and technologies. Santa Fe is located in beautiful North Central Florida, near the University of Florida.

Responsibilities and duties include:
  • Plan curriculum and provide instruction to promote student success in the college setting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate, develop, and revise curricula and pedagogical methods that enhance student mastery of course content.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and local school professionals to create and promote joint outreach and educational activities.
  • Support the mission of the department and college to promote student learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, faculty scholarship, professional development and service.
  • Assist with the implementation of college policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with Santa Fe philosophy, values, and mission.
  • Participate in committee work and complete staff assignments as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree or higher in Physics or a closely related field is required. The successful candidate will have experience teaching lecture and laboratory courses for both science and non-science majors. Faculty members are encouraged to teach with technology, where appropriate, and to develop distance education courses for the curriculum, when suitable. A commitment to student learning and excellence in undergraduate education is essential. A criminal background check will be conducted.

Three letters of recommendation are requested at the time of application and are required to be submitted before an official offer of employment can be extended.
