TT at St. Lawrence, Upstate NY

Applications are invited for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level to begin in August 2015.  Ph.D. preferred, ABD candidates considered.  We have a strong preference for a person with a Ph.D. in experimental physics whose research is related to environmental or energy physics.  The successful candidate will develop and teach a yearly course related to environmental physics targeted at the non-science student as well as teach introductory, intermediate and advanced level courses in the physics curriculum as appropriate.  The ability to teach mathematical methods of physics and quantum mechanics is preferred.  Opportunities exist for participation in St. Lawrence University’s acclaimed interdisciplinary First Year Program.  The successful candidate will be expected to start a research program related to environmental or energy physics that can involve senior research students.  Applicants should have a deep commitment to undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment.  In return, we are committed to helping our junior faculty members develop effective teaching skills and successful research programs.
