VAP at Lafayette College, PA

The Physics Department of Lafayette College, a highly selective undergraduate liberal arts institution with programs in the arts, sciences, social sciences, and engineering, anticipates an opening for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in August 2015. Lafayette College is conveniently situated in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania, 70 miles from New York City and 60 miles from Philadelphia.

We are seeking candidates with a demonstrated enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching, and a commitment to creative instruction in a variety of settings, including lecture, informal problem-solving workshops, and laboratory. The successful candidate should be able to teach physics effectively at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum. Candidates will teach a total of 3 courses per semester, including introductory physics and lab, and may also teach intermediate or advanced courses, depending on the applicant’s area of interest. Ability to teach our Solar System Astronomy course for liberal arts students would be particularly valuable.

A Ph.D. in physics (or a very closely related field) by August 2015 is required. More information about the department is available at http://physics.lafayette.edu or by writing to physics-search@lafayette.edu.

Please submit a letter of application, statement of teaching interests, curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference via the Job Opportunities link at http://physics.lafayette.edu. Consideration of applications will begin on March 2, 2015, and will continue until the position is filled.
