TT in Engineering/ Physics, Edmonds CC, near Seattle WA

In January and February of 2015, Edmonds Community College will be opening twelve full-time tenure or permanent track faculty positions.  The positions are:
 Mathematics (opened 1/14; closes 2/11)
Engineering / Physics (opened 1/16; closes 2/13)
Bridge (Pre-College) (opened 1/21; closes 2/18)
Adult Basic Education / English as a Second Language (ABE ESL) (opening 1/23)
Computer Information Systems Networking (opening 1/28)
Computer Science (opening 1/30)
Art (opening 2/4)
Computer Information Systems Web Development (opening 2/6)
Social and Human Services (opening 2/11)
Nursing (opening 2/13)
Business Technology (opening 2/18)
Intensive English as a Second Language (IESL) (opening 2/27)
 The college seeks faculty who will take a leadership role in their departments and the college, will adapt to a variety of teaching situations, can use technology to teach effectively, and will work effectively with students, staff, and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and student success.
 TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
  • Masters degree in the subject area.
  • Teaching experience in the subject area (generally 1 quarter to 1 year of experience).
  • Excellent English speaking, writing, listening, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding and implementation of current, student-centered pedagogy with use of active learning.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity for all students from all backgrounds with varying levels of preparedness. 
  • Experience in assessing effectiveness of teaching methods and curriculum/program changes on student engagement and success.
  • Evidence of ability to use technologies commonly used in instruction and office environments, including ability to effectively use learning management systems in all class modalities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success as well as a knowledge and practice of interventions that increase student success.
  • Department-specific criteria, e.g. additional teaching experience, PhD, online teaching experience, industry experience.
 COMPENSATION:
The salary will be based on the current faculty salary schedule; placement is based on education and related experience.  The current range is $49,564 to $59,441 annually for a 172-day appointment (three quarters).  The college provides an excellent benefits package that includes medical, dental, life insurance, and a retirement plan.

 ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Edmonds Community College is a comprehensive, public two-year institution of higher education that provides Transfer; Professional Technical; Adult Basic Education/High School Completion/English as a Second Language; and Continuing Education programs to approximately 20,000 unique students every year. Based on fall 2012 enrollment numbers, it is the third largest community college in the state of Washington. In 2012, Edmonds Community College celebrated 45 years of service on its 50-acre campus in Lynnwood, Washington.
 On average the college serves more than 11,000 students each quarter, with approximately 40% enrolled in Transfer, 30% in Professional Technical, 25% in Pre/college/Developmental Education, and 5% in Continuing Education programs. Students range in age from 16 to 70+, with an average age of about 30. About 33% of students are of color. Of new students at the college, about 45% work full- or part-time and nearly 30% have children or other dependents in their care. More than 1,200 international students from approximately 74 countries attend the college; however, about 80% of all students live within an eight mile radius of the campus. In addition, nearly 40% of all students take at least one online or hybrid class.
