The Department of Physics at The University of Alabama in Huntsville
invites applications for a calendar year Lecturer position beginning in
Fall 2014.
The curriculum of the
Physics Department includes general physics (with and without calculus),
introductory astronomy, intermediate mechanics, electricity &
magnetism, quantum mechanics, optics and photonics, relativity,
astrophysics, thermodynamics and statistics, and additional advanced
courses. The candidate is expected to teach primarily undergraduate
courses, and the ability and desire to teach graduate courses in
selected areas is a plus.
Candidates
should have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Physics or closely
related discipline. Candidates with prior teaching experience will be
given priority. The successful candidate will be expected to teach three
courses per semester during the Fall and Spring semesters, and one or
two courses during the Summer semester, as assigned by the Chair.
UAH
is one of three institutions in the University of Alabama System, with a
current enrollment of approximately 5,500 undergraduates and 1500
graduate students. The Department of Physics has 10 full-time faculty, 2
lecturers, and admits approximately 60 undergraduate majors and 10
graduates per year.
