Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) is a comprehensive, nonresidential, two-year public institution of higher education with 3 locations-the Fauquier and Middletown Campuses and the Luray-Page County Center and outreach sites throughout the College's service region. The service region includes the counties of Clarke, Fauquier, Frederick, Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, and Warren and the city of Winchester. LFCC offers more than 75 associate degree and certificate programs in a wide variety of disciplines, in addition to workforce preparation programs for employees and employers. LFCC offers a variety of day, evening, weekend and distance learning classes. As one of the fastest growing community colleges of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS), LFCC serves over 7,500 unduplicated credit students and more than 8,000 open enrollment and contract course students annually. In terms of student enrollment, LFCC is the seventh largest of the 23 colleges in the Virginia Community College System.

Job Description:

Faculty teaching loads are normally 15 credit hours per semester, which may include a combination of online classes or day and evening classes offered at one or more locations served by the College. This position is primarily assigned to the Middletown Campus of Lord Fairfax Community College but is subject to change as needed. In addition to teaching, faculty members are required to collaborate with other full and part-time faculty to ensure consistent student learning outcomes, have a minimum of ten office hours per week, advise students, serve on college committees, establish yearly professional development goals, and participate in other activities that support the mission of the college. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education and instructional technology.
The salary range for this position will be determined by the successful candidate's faculty rank. The minimum starting salary is $40,061, and can be increased based on candidate's experience and qualifications.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree required with at least 18 graduate credits in physics
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of and commitment to continuous quality improvement
  • Understanding of the community college mission, vision, and values
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with BlackBoard or other on-line delivery systems along with general information technology experience
  • Classroom teaching experience (2 years minimum)
