Candidates must have earned a doctoral degree in science education or a comparable field of study and have K-12 science teaching experience. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their knowledge and ability to design curriculum-embedded science performance assessments aligned to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Candidates also must have previous experience supporting teachers in the implementation of K-12 performance assessments. Preference will be given to candidates with previous research on scientific discourse or argumentation skills and/or previous experience designing K-12 computer-based science simulations.
Additionally, candidates need strong content expertise and a solid understanding of NGSS Standards to review and annotate samples of student work to be used as standards (benchmarking or anchors) for scoring trainings. Candidates should have strong facilitation skills, the ability to conduct research related to scoring training sessions, and experience supporting data analysis and authoring technical reports based on both qualitative and quantitative studies.
