Teach lecture and laboratory sections of algebra and calculus based Physics courses to transfer and workplace bound community college students. Integrate electronics into traditional physics courses, and align electrical engineering with computer science and information technology academic pathways. Assess student learning in Physics courses. Develop new and innovative laboratory experiments to augment the Physics curriculum. Help develop a schedule and sequence of courses that result in program level outcomes. Represent the Wright College Physical Science department in District wide Physics Discipline meetings. Collaborate with the Physical Sciences Department in departmental and college wide initiatives. Adhere to City Colleges of Chicago code of ethics, board rules, and policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Master of Science in Physics, PhD in Applied or Experimental Physics preferred or Masters degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 1-3 years of community college and/or university teaching experience is required. Community college teaching experience is preferred.
Demonstrate ability to use simple applications ie (MS Office, Adobe) curriculum application and hardware (probes, loggerPRO) and simple computer programming. Must have skills in lab based programming, mechanical and electronic activities. Ability to lead small team projects in a department and across a discipline. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Schedule flexibility, willing to respond to department needs and willing to contribute to department efforts positively i.e. substitute classes and work nights and summer. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse group of staff and students.To Apply:
