1.5 VAPs at St. Olaf College MN

The Saint Olaf College Physics Department invites applicants for two Visiting Assistant Professor positions for Academic Year 2014-2015: one position is full time for the whole year, starting Aug. 15, 2014 (1.0 FTE). The other position is full time for half the year, starting Feb. 1, 2015 (0.5 FTE).

Primary Responsibilities (each position):  Teach a combination of lecture and laboratory courses in physics with a load of 6 course-equivalents for the full year position and 3 course equivalents for the half year position. Courses to be taught include introductory physics with labs, advanced physics laboratory, and possibly a general education course or an elective course for physics majors.

Qualifications:  Ph. D. in physics (or in a closely related field with a strong physics foundation) and demonstrated potential for excellent teaching in a residential liberal arts college setting. We seek motivated teachers who will thrive in an environment where close collaboration with students is the norm. Strong candidates nearing completion of the Ph. D. may also be considered for appointment at the rank of visiting instructor.
