VAP at Pacific U, OR

The Department of Physics invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position beginning in August of 2014. We seek an individual with a Ph.D. in Physics, a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates, and an interest in physics pedagogy. This is an ideal position for a recent graduate who wants to gain experience in a variety of hands-on, student-centered teaching techniques. Courses to be taught will likely include the following: Introductory Physics with associated labs; Wave and Optics; and either Astronomy or Energy and the Environment, depending on the candidate’s interest.  The possibility of research with undergraduate students exists.
The successful candidate must have authorization to work in the United States at the time of hire.

Pacific University is an independent, comprehensive university in Forest Grove, Oregon (about 25 miles west of Portland). The Physics Department is part of the College of Arts and Sciences (ca. 1600 students), a liberal arts undergraduate college where faculty and staff are committed to an intimate, personalized education.
