GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Physics Department at Pacific Lutheran University invites applications for a visiting faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to teach for the 2014-2015 academic year beginning September 1, 2014. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses in theoretical and experimental physics, at both introductory and advanced levels.

HIRING RANGE:
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience + benefits package

CLOSING DATE:

WORK SCHEDULE:
Full-time, visiting position for the 2014-2015 academic year beginning September 1, 2014.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teach undergraduate courses in theoretical and experimental physics, at both introductory and advanced levels.
  • Hold weekly office hours.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Work cooperatively with other faculty and staff.
  • Assume a level of professional leadership and visibility through professional accomplishment in one's specialty and excellent teaching.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • A strong background in physics.
  • Commitment to undergraduate teaching and liberal arts education.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching at the undergraduate level.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in Physics or a related discipline. ABD will be considered, but Ph.D. must be in hand by September 1, 2014.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ph.D. in physics.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
