This nine-month, tenure-track appointment begins in August 2015.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach physics and to participate in the teaching of non-majors science courses. Preference will be given to candidates who can also teach other areas of science and math. Other responsibilities include developing an externally-funded research program involving significant participation of undergraduate students, professional activity, and service to both the University and community. Current research areas of emphasis at JCSU include bioinformatics, biotechnology, cyber security, robotics, and renewable energy. The faculty member will be required to evaluate and use current technology in courses and to maintain a positive educational relationship with students and colleagues. Other duties include academic advising, curriculum development, and committee service and performing other duties required to meet organizational needs.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in physics or a related science with documented proof of expertise. Course development and curriculum design experience as well as evidence of a commitment to working with under-prepared students are also desirable. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach with technology. Effective collaboration and interpersonal skills are also desirable.
