TT at Keene State, NH

The Physics Department at Keene State College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Physics, beginning August 2015. We seek a broadly trained Physicist and extraordinary teacher of students of varying backgrounds and abilities. Experience in leading undergraduate research in a laboratory-based project is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to the liberal arts undergraduate academic setting. The teaching load is three courses per semester. The department consists of two tenure-track faculty lines as well as adjunct faculty and a laboratory assistant who contribute to joint majors in Mathematics-Physics, Chemistry-Physics, a Physics Minor and an Engineering Transfer program as well as serving majors in Chemistry, Biology and Geology. Additional responsibilities include advising students and service to the department and the College. Faculty members also have the opportunity to teach a course in the college’s Integrative Studies Program, a transformational general education approach. Qualifications Required: Ph.D. by August 1, 2015 in Physics or Astronomy; undergraduate teaching experience as lead instructor; a research agenda accessible to undergraduates; demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
Additional Desirable Qualifications: the ability to teach the full range of upper level Physics courses (Thermodynamics, Classical Mechanics, E&M & Quantum Mechanics); additional full- time undergraduate Physics teaching experience; demonstrated undergraduate mentoring/research experience; the ability to or experience teaching Astronomy, Meteorology and other general education courses.
Current rank minimum for an Assistant Professor is $61,720. Subject to change with anticipated Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement.
