Annually Contracted Instructor – Physics
Overview:
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College invites applications for an Annually Contracted Instructor for a one year appointment. Annually Contracted Instructor (ACI) is full-time, non-tenure-track faculty member whose sole responsibility is to provide classroom instruction of credit-bearing courses. ACI duties shall not include responsibilities as program chair, department chair, cooperative education coordinator, advisor, counselor, librarian, instructional designer, or any other faculty responsibilities. This is a teaching-oriented position rather than a research-oriented position. The selected candidate will need to teach college-level courses to our technical, transfer degree and non-degree seeking students whose programs require Physics.
As part of our team of highly qualified faculty, Physics Instructors are expected to provide high quality instruction and work with the Associate Deans, Dean and other Administrative staff and faculty to improve student learning experiences and be committed to the mission and values of the College. Instructors may be assigned other instructional responsibilities as determined by the Dean or Associate Dean.

Essential Duties:
- Teach a range of Physics courses including: Algebra and Trigonometry-Based Physics, Technical Physics, Introduction to Physics, Aviation Physics and Health Physics.
- Deliver learner-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning, student involvement and student success, and by providing timely feedback to students.
- Provide each student with a syllabus that outlines clear course expectations, evaluations, topical outlines and timelines.
- Prepare all course materials and lessons. Preparation time will vary based on the instructor's experience in the specific course being taught.
- Develop real life learning activities that align with the learning outcomes defined in the department's standardized syllabus.
- Use Blackboard to record grades, to communicate with students, and to make course materials available on a timely basis.
- Submit student grades, administrative reports and other paperwork in a thorough and timely manner.
- Maintain office hours in accordance with the Humanities and Sciences Divisions policy.
- Attend program, departmental and divisional meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Physics and a Master's degree in Physics or in a related field with a cohesive set of at least 18 semester hours (or quarter hour equivalent) of graduate course work in Physics from a regionally accredited institution.
- A minimum of one year of teaching experience. Experience as a teaching or research assistant does not meet this qualification.
- Experience with or commitment to learn and use the College's Learning Management System, Blackboard.
- Available to teach day or evening classes at campuses around the city.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years teaching experience (teaching or research assistant experience does not meet this qualification).
- Experience teaching in a community college.
