Detailed Description | | |
| | |
| | Embry Riddle Aeronautical University consists of the Worldwide Campus and residential campuses at Daytona Beach, Florida and Prescott, Arizona. Collectively, ERAU offers a variety of aviation and non-aviation undergraduate degrees along with graduate degrees at the Master?s and PhD level. As such, we are dedicated to creating a culture where students and faculty are involved in inter-campus research that has practical applications in the workplace.
When it comes to teaching, the Worldwide Campus offers courses via traditional classroom, video teleconference (Adobe Connect), purely online (Canvas), and hybrid modes through a network of more than 150 small campuses that span the globe. Most Worldwide Campus students are working adults who attend their courses from the field, the comfort of home, or a traditional classroom setting. They bring all of their real-world experience to the physical and life sciences courses offered by us, enabling quality learning in our 9-week terms. Our courses are primarily those taken during the first two years of undergraduate work and are taught by you and a cadre of full-time faculty plus a large number of adjunct instructors.
This is primarily a teaching position. Therefore, you will be contracted to teach 30 semester hours per year of predominantly undergraduate physics (algebra and calculus based) and possibly astronomy courses in traditional classroom, video teleconference, hybrid, and online modes. Workload reassignment may be granted by the Dean in accordance with adjunct faculty oversight responsibilities or academic responsibilities with the College. Relocation is not required, but travel to teach classes may be necessary.
At the discretion of the Department Chair, part of your teaching load may be offset by other job requirements including administrative tasks or curriculum development.
Administrative duties include mentoring and evaluating adjunct instructors in addition to working with other Worldwide colleges and departments to determine physical science courses needed to support their programs. Curriculum development is a possibility for both online and classroom courses, but maintenance and improvement of existing physics courses will be required.
