Anderson University is seeking candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in Physics at the professor, associate professor, or assistant professor level beginning August 2016 or August 2017, depending on the candidate's availability. We are seeking physicists with a distinguished record in teaching, research and a heart to serve Christ. The Physical Sciences & Engineering department hosts Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and more recently, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering majors. With the addition of the Engineering Program to the Anderson University curriculum in 2013, enrollment in the department has increased significantly. Graduates have found great success going on to graduate studies in physics, astronomy, and other related fields. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses within the physics curriculum, as well as classes geared towards non-science majors. Additionally, all faculty in the department are expected to maintain research programs designed to engage undergraduates, and are encouraged to seek external funding to support these efforts. Current faculty have expertise in high-energy astrophysics, and computational physics, but candidates from any field of physics are encouraged to apply.
Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy, or a closely related field by the start of employment. The selected candidate will have a passion to partner with current faculty to grow the physics enrollment, as well as support the new engineering program. The university remains closely affiliated with its founding church and values its heritage and history. It is expected that all faculty possess a deep, personal commitment to Jesus Christ. A statement of faith is required of all applicants seeking positions at the University.
Benefits: This is a full-time, tenure-track position with eligibility for university benefits.
Position Available: Beginning August 2016, but will consider a start date of August 2017. The review of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Any interested candidate should supply a cover letter, CV, faculty application, statement of teaching philosophy, statement of research interests (including how their research would be deployed with undergraduate students at a small, liberal arts institution), and a statement of faith to Dr. Chad Wallace, Dean of the School of Science & Engineering, Anderson University, 1100 East 5h Street, Anderson IN 46012.
