Job Summary/Basic Function |
The Department of Physics and Astronomy of Dickinson College invites applications for a one-year sabbatical replacement position beginning July 2016, with a strong likelihood of extending the position to a second year. Dickinson is a highly selective four-year liberal arts college with an active and innovative science program. The Department is housed in a state-of-the-art building equipped with smart classrooms, research labs, a machine shop, a planetarium, and an observatory.
The physics major features a project-centered, hands-on curriculum that culminates in a yearlong senior research project. The Department graduates an average of twelve majors per year. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics and will be expected to teach primarily introductory physics and/or astronomy courses, with the possibility of also teaching an upper-level physics course. Ideally, applicants will be able to engage undergraduate majors in research. |
