The Physics Department at Juniata College, a selective liberal arts
college of 1600 students located in Huntingdon, PA, invites applications
for a fixed-term assistant professor for up to 3 years, subject to
annual renewal, starting in August 2016. We are seeking candidates
vitally interested in teaching undergraduate physics and to lead our
introductory laboratory program and share in the teaching of the lab
courses. Responsibilities will include directing and teaching
introductory physics and environmental physics laboratories, and
teaching
introductory and upper-level physics or engineering mechanics courses as
needed. A Ph.D. or ABD in physics or a related field is preferred.
Although teaching is the primary responsibility of this position,
opportunities for research collaborations with current faculty in
astronomy, optics, or nuclear detection are available. In addition to
supporting approximately 50 Physics and Engineering Physics majors and
graduating an average of 10 students per year, the Physics Department
offers introductory courses and labs that enroll over 120 Biology,
Chemistry, and Environmental Science students each academic year. Review
of candidates' materials will begin in early March with an expected
