TT at Austin Peay State Univ.

Applications are invited for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. This is a full-time 9-month, tenure-track position to begin Fall 2011; salary is commensurate with rank and experience.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at APSU is a growing department consisting of eight faculty, two staff members, and approximately 75 undergraduate physics majors. We have active research areas in astronomy, materials physics with an emphasis on photovoltaics, and computational physics. The department is currently equipping a $500k laboratory for the optical characterization of photovoltaics and advanced materials. Clarksville is centrally located in Tennessee, approximately 3.5 hour’s drive from both Oak Ridge National Lab and Huntsville, Alabama. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a related field. Candidates whose research interests can involve undergraduate students, have the potential for collaboration within the department, and make use of existing facilities are preferred.
