VAP at Saginaw Valley State University

The Physics Department at Saginaw Valley State University invites applications for a one-year Assistant Professor position to begin in Fall 2011. Although the position is classified as temporary, there is the possibility of renewal. The Physics Department offers majors in Physics, Optical Physics, Chemical Physics and Physics teacher certification. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate introductory and upper-level lecture and laboratory courses, including courses serving science and engineering majors as well as courses satisfying general education requirements for non-science students. The teaching responsibilities will total approximately 12 contact hours per semester. A strong preference will be shown for candidates who can demonstrate teaching experience in undergraduate lectures, labs and/or recitations and who also indicate interest and/or experience in engaging undergraduate students in research.
