Assistant/Associate Professor of Physics

Dominican University of California is seeking a dynamic individual for a new full-time, 9.5 month, tenure- track position to teach courses in Physics and related disciplines. Candidates specializing in all areas of Physics are encouraged to apply. By the beginning of employment, candidates should have earned a Ph.D. in Physics, Biophysics, Computational Physics, Mathematical Physics or a related discipline. An Associate Professor candidate should have an active research agenda. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to teaching and scholarly activity and the potential for directing student research in a liberal arts environment. Responsibilities include teaching courses, mentoring students, establishing and maintaining research projects, and participating in service to the university. It is essential that the candidate have an interdisciplinary background or a history of collaborating with other faculty in the sciences. The Department's programs include Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in Biology or Chemistry. The successful candidate would be expected to have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, and dedication to establishing a research program involving undergraduate students. The candidate is expected to teach courses in physics at the undergraduate level, as well as other courses including GE courses in accordance to the needs of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Physics to science majors and non-majors
  • Participate in interdisciplinary curriculum development
  • Establish an interdisciplinary undergraduate research program
  • Contribute to the department through excellent teaching, research, publications and service

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Physics, BioPhysics, Computational Physics, Mathematical Physics or a related discipline preferred.
  • Prior university/college level teaching experience is preferred
