K-12 Science/Math Specialist, AR Tech

Arkansas Tech University is accepting applications for the position of K-12 Science and Math Specialist. This will be a full-time, 12 month position with continuation of employment contingent upon annual funding. The expected starting date will ne January 6, 2014.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
1) Collaborate with the ADE-assigned School Improvement Supervisor (SIS) and will provide the following technical assistance to assigned schools:
a) Collaboration with the School Specialty Team
b) Participate in the planning of meetings with the school district and / or school leadership teams
c) Provide on-site technical assistance and facilitation to district and / or school personnel
d) Provide and / or assist with specific professional development as noted in the School Improvement Plan

2) Provide approved state-wide professional development and continue to provide technical assistance and targeted professional development to member school districts and / or schools based on needs assessments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
a) A Bachelor's Degree in science/math or closely related subject area
b) Three years of recent teaching experience
c) Valid Arkansas teaching license
d) Experience in adult learning situations, team problem-solving and professional development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
a) A Master's Degree in science/math or closely related subject area
b) A teaching philosophy that supports the Common Core State Standards for Science/math
c) Knowledge of current research and effective practices in research-based curriculum, instruction and assessment
