Clinical Assistant Professor in Science Education (Log #15-016)
The Department of Middle and Secondary Education is seeking a full-time clinical assistant professor in Science Education.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities for the position include teaching and/or
co-teaching science education courses at the undergraduate and graduate
levels and providing leadership for online and other degree programs in
science education, including facilitating online courses and programs,
creating instructional materials, managing online orientations and
advising, and administering a capstone project. Additional
responsibilities include coaching and supervising preservice teachers in
urban schools; advising undergraduate and graduate students; serving on
departmental, college and university committees; and participating in
professional organizations and conferences.
Qualifications:
Qualifications include an earned doctorate in science education or a
related field; expertise in online or distance education; expertise in
standards-based teaching; a strong background in current trends and
issues in science education; knowledge of and experience with
integration of learning technologies; experience in and commitment to
working with culturally and linguistically diverse students in urban
settings; dedication to new teacher mentoring and professional
development; strong leadership skills and initiative; and strength as a
researcher as well as a teacher/scholar.
