TT and NTT at Cleveland State, OH

The Physics Department at Cleveland State University has an opening for a full-time, non-tenure-track Associate Lecturer position starting August 18, 2014. Duties will include teaching physics courses and supervising labs at the introductory or advanced undergraduate levels, up to a maximum of 16 semester credit hours per term.  


Candidate must have a Ph.D. in physics or closely related field and prior undergraduate teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates who also can teach introductory astronomy.

The Physics Department at Cleveland State University has an opening for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting August 18, 2014.   The department offers M. S. degree programs in optics & materials, optics & medical imaging, and CAMPEP-accredited medical physics.


Candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates with postdoctoral experience. We seek an applied/experimental or theoretical/computational physicist who can complement the department's strengths. This person is expected to be actively engaged in undergraduate instruction and undergraduate research projects, as well as to perform high-quality research and graduate training that contributes to one or more of our existing graduate programs.

Successful applicants should have a commitment to physics education through teaching excellence and enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates. Candidates should be actively engaged in research with a strong publication record. Excellent communication skills and an ability to work effectively with diverse students are highly desired. The successful applicant will be expected to pursue an on-campus research program that will actively and sustainably involve both undergraduate and graduate students, and to apply for external grant support.
