The
department of chemistry and physics seeks
a full-time temporary faculty member to teach introductory physics
courses for the 2014/2015 academic year. Teaching assignments include
introductory physics lectures and laboratories to meet departmental
instructional needs. The position is subject to available funding.
The candidate will be
responsible for 12 credit hours of instruction in a combination of
lecture and laboratory sections as well as academic advising duties. The
candidate is also expected to be active in scholarship and in the
college community.
Required
qualifications
include (1) PhD or ABD with significant progress in Physics or a
closely related field; and (2) evidence of an ability to
teach effectively college level physics courses.
Preferred qualifications: (1) experience in teaching
at the college level; (2) experience in and a commitment to teaching
in a multicultural, multiracial environment with students of diverse
backgrounds and learning styles; and (3) experience with instructional
technology and active learning techniques.
