1-year Lectureship at American
The Department of Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences at
American University invites applications for a one-year term teaching
position, pending budgetary approval, at the rank Professorial Lecturer
beginning fall 2014. Qualified candidates will have a doctorate in
physics or closely related field. Teaching responsibilities include
undergraduate courses at the introductory, intermediate and advanced
levels, including courses in the General Education program, such as
Astronomy. The successful candidate will be prepared to advise and teach
students and mentor undergraduate research. Applicants should submit:
(1) letter of application addressing teaching and research experiences
and interests, (2) CV, and (3) a teaching statement that describes the
different strategies required for introductory and upper-level courses.
Additionally, they must arrange for three letters of recommendation to
be sent to the Search Committee. Electronic submission of application is
