Gordon
State College invites applications for the position of Head of the
Department of Math & Physical Sciences. The Department of Math
& Physical Sciences is comprised of 19 scholars from the disciplines
of astronomy, chemistry, computer science, math, and physics. The
Department supports a baccalaureate program in math, offers seven
field-related transfer programs, and provides pre-college instruction in
mathematics in support of the college’s mission as an access
institution. The Department Head reports directly to the Dean of the
School of Arts & Sciences. The successful candidate will have an
established record of excellence in teaching and will have been an
active participant in the conversation of his or her discipline.
Gordon State College has served the state of Georgia continuously since its founding in 1852, and has been a unit in the University System of Georgia since 1972. After more than three decades of serving the state as a residential two-year college, Gordon State College was asked to develop selected four-year programs to address critical state needs. Currently, Gordon State College offers eight baccalaureate degree programs and serves more than 4000 students with the good work of more than 120 full-time faculty.
