The Physical Sciences Department at Rhode Island
College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Physics. This
is a one-year limited term position. The position is pending budgetary
approval; final appointment is subject to available funding.
We are looking for a candidate capable of teaching both introductory and upper level physics courses.
The
Physical Sciences
Department consists of 5 physicists, 8 chemists, 2 earth scientists and 1
science educator and offers undergraduate degrees in both
chemistry and physics. In the physics and physical sciences programs we
teach a wide range of students, including traditional physics
majors, physics majors with an interest in secondary education and
students interested in middle school science and elementary education.
We
also provide service courses for biology, mathematics, radiation
technology majors and the general education population. We have a strong
commitment to engaging undergraduates in research with the majority of
our students participating in some research while they are at the
College.
Required qualifications include: Ph.D. in Physics; demonstrated teaching experience.
