St. Lawrence University invites applications for a visiting position
(potentially renewable for a second year) at the assistant professor
level to begin August 2014. We have a strong preference for a person
with a Ph.D. in an area of experimental physics (ABD candidates may be
considered). A background in environmental or energy physics is
preferred but not essential. The successful candidate will teach
introductory college physics, a course in mathematical methods of
physics and other courses in the physics curriculum as appropriate,
including introductory labs. Applicants should have a deep commitment
to undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment. In return, we
are committed to helping our junior faculty members develop effective
teaching skills.
Interested
candidates should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and
arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent to Dr. Catherine
Jahncke, Search Committee Chair, Physics Department, St. Lawrence
University, Canton, NY 13617. In addition we request a statement of
teaching philosophy and a description of research interests. Review of
applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is
filled.
