Required Qualifications | Minimum of Master's degree; at least 18 graduate hours in Physics; - Required to teach at least 15 contact hours per semester - Applicant must be fluent in current instructional technologies and software (which include, but not limited to, Microsoft Office and Blackboard), must have a willingness to learn new computer skills and employ innovative teaching methodologies - Applicant must have experience teaching, preferably in the community college and/or university environments - Applicant must have experience teaching science labs - Applicant must be willing to teach distance learning courses |
Preferred Qualifications | - Prior Community College teaching experience preferred - Graduate coursework in Astronomy, Astrophysics or related field preferred - Graduate degree or 18 graduate hours in engineering a plus - Willingness to teach overloads will receive additional consideration |
Responsibilities | - Teach a minimum of three courses, as assigned by the department chair, per semester for Fall and Spring semesters - Teaching assignment may include day and/or evening classes as well as weekend college classes - Must be willing to teach at night as assigned by the Department Chair - Preference will be given to individuals who are willing to teach an overload course - Summer teaching may be available and will be awarded on the basis of funding, course availability, and departmental seniority - Applicant must participate in departmental responsibilities, community activities, support college-related functions, and serve on various committees |
