The Position:
The Department of Natural Sciences and Engineering Technology at Point Park University invites applications for a tenure-track position as an assistant professor of physics beginning in the fall of 2015. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses to support the department's bachelor of science programs in biology, pre-professional studies and engineering technology.
The primary duties of this position are developing and delivering lecture and laboratory courses in physics. The successful candidate must possess a demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively in oral, written, and digital forms. A willingness to teach in other areas such as mathematics is highly desirable. Because the programs serve a large adult student population, courses are regularly offered on an evening and weekend schedule and the candidate must be available to teach at these times as well as traditional students during day classes.
Additional duties of the position include advising students on academic and career matters, participating in institutional service and governance, engaging in professional development, and furthering connections between the University and its external constituencies. An essential component of institutional service is a commitment to outcomes-based education and participation in assessment of student learning.
The successful candidate must hold an earned doctoral degree in physics or a closely-related area. Previous experience in teaching at the college level is highly desirable. Exceptionally well-qualified candidates may be considered for appointment at the rank of associate professor.

Application Procedure:

Please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and at least three letters of recommendation to Dr. Mark Marnich, Chair, Natural Sciences and Engineering Technology department.
