Job Summary/Basic Function:
This position provides collegiate level instruction in Physics.
Experience
Teaching experience on the college level is preferred, but not required.
Education
A minimum of a Master's degree in Physics (with a minimum of 18 semester or 27 quarter graduate hours in Physics) or a closely related science discipline is required. Doctoral degree is preferred.

Scope/ Impact
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to teach Physics on the collegiate level. Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to students and facilitate student learning. Must be knowledgeable of current laboratory safety practice and procedures. Excellent communication skills required. Requires excellent organizational skills required to maintain laboratory equipment, work within the department budget and produce, revise, and maintain appropriate records, such as accurate laboratory protocols for preparation and teaching materials, experiments and procedures. Must be able to effectively work with the Department Chair, Science Faculty, and staff, including supervising laboratory assistants. Effective computer skills and use of teaching and laboratory technology are required.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires local travel. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds of materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate hand-eye coordination to use complex lab equipment in a safe and accurate manner is required. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone, and in writing. Job takes place in normal laboratory and/or classroom and/or office environmental conditions.

Work Hours:
Position may require non-standard hours (nights and weekends). Classes at GPC are offered morning, afternoon, and evening including weekends.
