- Principle faculty in a small, rural college for the Physics and Astronomy courses, as staffing needs require, day, evening or during summer session at the main campus or off campus sites. A hypothetical annual teaching load could include a combination of Non-majors Conceptual Physics, Conceptual Physical Science, Introductory Physics I & II (Trigonometry and Calculus levels) and Introduction to Astronomy. Some courses employ a combination of lecture, laboratory, observatory, field, and computer-aided instruction. A full teaching load is 15 units.
- Develop instructional materials, maintain the currency of laboratory and lecture curricula, and participate in articulation with high schools, colleges and universities.
- Maintain instructional materials including lab and astronomy observatory equipment (including campus observatory 14 and 8 telescopes); this includes minor repairs and adjustments.
- Participate in Civic Engagement/Community Service work, special projects such as Dinner with a Scientist, Star Parties and Science Camp.
- Develop Physics/Astronomy field/observatory experiences and curriculum pertinent to the course content.
- Recruit and mentor Physics and Astronomy students.
- Work collegially and professionally with other faculty, staff and administrative personnel.
- Participate in various division, department, and shared governance committees, and maintain an active participation in professional organizations.
- Maintain course files, student records, and other database systems as they relate to the teaching assignment.
- Recommend current Physics and Astronomy materials in the library relevant to the program and student assignments.
- Work successfully with diverse student interests, age levels, abilities, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Participate in program review revisions and the yearly Program Review process including the development and assessment of Student Learning Outcomes.
Placement on the Yosemite Community College District salary schedule dependent upon education and experience. 2015-16 Salary Schedule $55,384 to $103,697 per year, plus an annual $2,374 stipend for an earned doctorate. New personnel limited to a maximum tenth step initial placement based on previous experience maximum equals $80,856

- Experience as a part-time or full-time instructor (beyond teaching assistant) at the collegiate level. Community college teaching experience preferred.

- Demonstrated ability in developing and delivering computer/technology based instruction and hybrid/online courses.
