TWO VAPs, Carleton College, MN

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Carleton College is seeking applications for two temporary positions at the Assistant Professor level for the 2016-2017 academic year on 3 term/year calendar. One position will involve teaching 5-6 courses over three terms and one position will involve teaching 3.5-4.5 courses over two or three terms. Six courses/year represents a full-time teaching load for a visiting faculty member. We seek recent PhDs in physics or astronomy with a strong commitment to teaching in a liberal-arts environment. Both positions include the possibility of renewal for a second year pending approval of the Dean. There will be opportunities for involvement of undergraduate students in research, but it is not required for these positions. Carleton College is a highly selective liberal arts college with about 2000 undergraduates located 45 miles south of Minneapolis/St. Paul.
