| Job Summary | The Department of Physics and Geosciences at Angelo State University invites applications for the position of Planetarium Director and Assistant Professor. This is a tenure-track position. |
| Duties | The successful candidate will oversee the planetarium budgets; the schedule of public shows and shows for regional schools; acquisition of new planetarium programming; supervision of planetarium student workers; public relations with local media outlets; routine maintenance of the planetarium, lobby displays and telescopes; and university use of the planetarium for special events or classes. The candidate will also teach undergraduate lectures and laboratories in Astronomy, maintain a program of scholarly productivity; and assist with departmental and university service. A teaching load reduction is provided for the Planetarium Director's duties. |
| Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | Five years or more of digital planetarium operation experience is desired. Experience in undergraduate teaching and in distance education is preferred. Angelo State University has a Spitz SciDome HD projection system and numerous programs for this system. Experience with this particular system is desirable. The successful applicant must possess strong communication and organizational skills, and be dedicated to excellence in teaching students and the public. |

| Qualifications | A doctorate in Physics, Astronomy, Science Education, or closely related field is required at the time of appointment. |
