FT Lectureship, UNC-Charlotte

The Department of Physics and Optical Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a Lecturer.  This 9-month position will start August 15, 2016 with an initial 3-year contract. Required qualifications at time of appointment: a Ph.D. in physics, optical science, astronomy, or a closely-related field, and prior undergraduate-level teaching experience. Teaching responsibilities may include courses in introductory physics, astronomy, general-education physics, and upper-division physics. Normal teaching load will be four (4) courses per semester.
UNC-Charlotte is a doctoral, research-intensive university located in Charlotte, North Carolina, one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the U.S. As the largest college at UNC-Charlotte, the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences houses 20 departments in the humanities, social sciences, physical sciences and military sciences, as well 24 applied research centers and interdisciplinary programs. It offers eight doctoral degrees, 34 master's degrees and graduate certificates and 34 undergraduate degrees.  The Physics and Optical Science Department, with 20 faculty, supports the mission of UNC-Charlotte by offering required physics courses to non-physics majors, science courses as part of the general core, and by offering BS and MS programs in Physics, along with MS and Ph.D. programs in Optical Science and Engineering.
