Background: The University Libraries system is comprised of David W. Mullins (main) Library, the Physics Library, the Chemistry and Biochemistry Library, the Fine Arts Library, and the Robert A. and Vivian Young Law Library. Combined holdings number over 2 million volumes. The libraries participate in the Greater Western Library Alliance, the Center for Research Libraries, and other state and national consortia. Library personnel (FTE) include 59 faculty and professional staff, 67 support staff, and 27 student assistants.

Summary of Job Duties |
This position will provide services for physics and mathematics programs and interdisciplinary programs closely aligned with physics (nanoscience, space and planetary sciences, microelectronics-photonics, and other related disciplines). Reference and research services, instruction on resources, liaison and outreach activities, and collaborative collection development are the core responsibilities. Others include leadership and oversight of daily operations, supervision of 3.5 FTE employees, and contributing to the goals of the University Libraries. Reports to the Director for Academic and Research Services.
In keeping with faculty requirements, the incumbent is expected to engage in scholarly research and creative work and service, and participate in local, state, and national organizations. The successful candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills encompassing the ability to work collegially as a member of a team; strong analytical and organizational skills; and excellent written and oral communication skills.
