Transylvania University, located in the heart of downtown Lexington, Kentucky, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in Physics beginning September 1, 2016. A Ph.D. in Physics or Astrophysics is required by the start date. Applicants must be committed to excellence in teaching in a liberal arts environment. The Bingham Program for Excellence in Teaching may provide start-up awards for recent Ph.Ds. The usual teaching load is five courses per academic year. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate physics courses at all levels, participate in the design and operation of the physics laboratories, and direct upper-level research projects. In addition, all Transylvania faculty teach in the First-Year Seminar Program on a rotating basis. Preference will be given to applicants engaged in research that can involve undergraduate students.
